I had the privilege of meeting, hearing and talking with Ona Brown last night. She is an up and coming orator, daughter of the more renowned Les Brown, motivational speaker. I'd like to share some of her insights and my inspirations with you. After meeting the eye of the storm (your particular challenges in life) you have two choices. "Let go of control or be dragged," Ona puts it. There are three steps to now consider.
Step 1. Find a way to honor yourself. Instead of feeling guilty, stop thinking maybe it was something that you could have done. Do things that bring you self-respect. If you want to dance, dance. If you want to travel, travel. You get the drift. Do whatever it is that you truly want to do in life.
Step 2. Find a way to expand yourself. "God, let me know the truth about myself," Ona beckoned, "no matter how magnificent it is." She saw herself as shy and introverted. She didn't know what was possible until accepting an invitation from her father to get out in front of an audience. She had to experientially overcome her self-imposed fears.
Step 3. Find a way to prepare yourself. Get ready for what you would like to truly manifest. Take every step needed to promote as well as create your product or service. Organize your plan of action. Not only envision a positive outcome, get involved by speaking freely at public events and reaching out to a lot of people. You have to believe in what you are doing, before you will be able to convince others.
Vince Lombardi said in various ways, “Winners never quit and quitters never win.” “If you aren't fired with enthusiasm, you will be fired with enthusiasm.” “Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser.” “The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall.” “Winning isn't everything, but the will to win is everything.”
Take charge of your life. The tools are readily available.
